Where is it Possible to Fly in the Military?
It is understood that it is possible to fly in Canada’s military on a similar basis to commercial flying i.e. after diagnosis for existing military pilots it may be possible to return to multi-crew flying duties after stabilization of diabetes and minimum blood sugar control criteria are met. It is also understood that it is possible to fly in the Israeli military, for both multi-crew and single-crew combat duties (to be confirmed).
Recently a case in Norway to reinstate a military helicopter grounded by type 1 diabetes was considered but was unsuccessful.
We hope that the increasing numbers of countries introducing commercial flying with diabetes can help reinstatement of military pilots grounded beacuse of diabetes.
If any military pilot grounded by diabetes would like to be connected to our network, please use the following contact link.
